I find that I can often use excerpts from content that I have written for other sites because it applies (though sometimes tenuously) to something new I might be working on.
For example, an MLM I am currently rewriting content for features vacation packages to various locations around the globe. I was able to utilize bits and pieces of things I'd previously written for a golf vacation package place, other MLMs, and travel tours to the Caribbean.
Ultimately, by rewording it, the old content saves me time and I can eventually get a lot more done.
So I got that goin' for me...which is nice...
Now if only the Lama wouldn't have stiffed me while caddying for him, the weekend would look a lot brighter!
Okay, yes it is the title of a (particularly good) Duran Duran song, but it also reflects the basic motif behind how I approach every client.
No matter whether I am writing for an MLM, a real estate company, an escort service or vacation packages, my goal is to take people who will be reading it out of their mundane, ordinary world and give them a visual representation of the product or service being offered. Basically, the ultimate goal is to whisk the reader away into a different place and, at the same time, instill within them a need for whatever is being offered so that they absolutely cannot do without it.
My mind rarely operates in an ordinary world so I feel that others can take a bit of a vacation in their imagination as well, even if it's only for a brief moment.
Perhaps the biggest challenge facing me when I write content is when I am assigned another MLM. Basically, these are all the same with the keywords changed to protect the innocent. However, as each client is paying for this service, I feel that they deserve some new content and not just the same old regurgitated material with new keywords inserted.
I try to at least jazz up a portion of the SEO while basing it on something I have previously written as it is nearly impossible to write all new content for each one. Sometimes, if the planets align and fate is kind, I can come up with some ALL NEW content based on specific keywords. It is rare but it does happen. It might be easier to write some new content if clients tailor their keywords to maybe their locale or something a little less general and similar to what others are using. Then again, after a while, it may not...but so far that's been the case with me.
Since this is my first blog post, I suppose that I will discuss writing content since that's what I do. I have a weird feeling, however, that they will all be about content since...that's what I do! ;)
Obviously, some are more entertaining to write content for than others, but overall, it is pretty challenging to see how I might be able to put a different spin on a client's product or service to not only catch people's attention but also keep them reading. For me, I will always gravitate toward something that is interesting when surfing the net. Does it mean that I will always buy a product or use a service? No, but I will definitely keep the content in mind should I know anyone that might be interested. Ultimately, that's the secret to using quality content. If it doesn't create a need in the person reading it, it should lodge itself within the mind for them to pass on to someone else.
Hopefully, I've been successful so far!
